Gutsy Ubuntu

The Ubuntu team has announced the release of Unbuntu 7.10 “Gutsy Gibbon”. It will be release Thursday, October 18th 2007.

The desktop highlights are:

Compiz Fusion: 3-D Desktop manager.

Printer Installation: In GNOME, printers are automatically configured for use as soon as they are connected.

Free flash support with Gnash.

Automated Firefox plug in installation.

I have an old Dell laptop in which I have tried many times to install Ubuntu. It always works fine until it comes to the point to have wireless connectivity, which has been sketchy at best. I know that most manufacturers don’t support Linux natively, but I feel that this is a huge show stopper for the adaptation of Linux.
