As the proud owner of 3 tickets for game 3, I think the
Rockies Organization left the fan down with this fiasco.
I believe the Rockies should had split their 60K tickets
into Online and local store sales. Going even further than that, I think the
Rockies should had started selling the World Series tickets after they won the
tie breaker, or at least after they won the Division title. Heck, they could
had started selling them before they even went to the tie breaker. We bought
our Division title tickets before we even bought the tie breaker tickets. The
might say, that they didn’t want to go through the overhead of refunding all
those tickets in case they didn’t go to the World Series. My response to that
is two folds. First, if the fans were hopeful enough to buy the tickets, they
should had been hopeful enough to sell them. Second, they always say, it will
take 4-6 weeks to refund the tickets. They might have made some good money on
interest in that time frame if their money is managed properly.
Well they didn’t decide to do that. They decided to go
online only. Since they were going to do online only, then they should had made
sure that worked. It was stupid to think the servers would not be hit hard. And
if this thing about a D-O-S attack is true, it was also stupid not to consider
that as a possibility.
Instead of continuing to say after the glitch on Monday
things went well on Tuesday and we think this was the best way, they should
come out and apologize. They should come out and say, “WE’re sorry for the way
WE handle this. This was our first time doing this and WE didn’t seek the right
advice. WE should have gone to the Broncos and ask them what to do.” Or say something
along those lines. You notice that I’m highlighting the word WE here. I think
the Rockies must take 100% responsibility for everything that went wrong in the
last 2 days. I think they should have a lottery for free tickets for one of
their classic games next season. I think the Rockies should do everything to
restore their fan base feelings of “GO ROCKIES”. They went from being the
darlings of the MLB to being the joke of the MLB.
We, my wife, my son and I, are still Rockies fans and we
wish them well in this World Series. We will continue to go to games; and we’re
proud of what they accomplish this year. And I hope that they are big enough to
take 100% responsibility and “do good by their fans”.
