Aksel Lund Svindal - World Cup season might end early

It looks as if Aksel Svindal is out for the season. This was a horrific accident. I wish him well.

Mr. Svindal is one of the most talented racers in the circuit. It is always a joy to watch him race.

Grand Targhee opens with 1500 acres

If you read my Copper Mountain Early Experience post, you would probably know how much of a different experience it would had been being at Grand Targhee with so much terrain open.

Gran Targhee open with 1500 acres, the most of any Rockies resort.

Early skiing - Copper Mountain Colorado - Poor Experience.

Last weekend we spent it at Copper Mountain, Colorado.

It was not as enjoyable of an experience as it was in the previous years at this time. The crowds were way too thick and Patrol didn’t do its job in my opinion.

When we got there Friday afternoon, we skied two runs before we decided that it was better to go back to our room and enjoy the rest of the afternoon walking around.

On both Saturday and Sunday, we skied for 2 hours early in the morning before we called it the day.

Patrol could have done a better job of speed control. I don’t mind people skiing fast when they are under control and it is not terribly crowded. But seeing people, skiers and snowboarders alike, going down full speed without even making a turn to control speed was insane.

On Saturday we even decided to go to the green side to see if it would be less crowded (no black terrain was open.) What we found was a Team Summit snowboarding team of probably six athletes and a coach. They were all going downhill next to each other occupying the width of the run at full speed. I know that when the ski teams train in public terrain only one athelete goes down at the time. But not these guys, they were going down together.

Overall, not a great experience. One could say to me that I should had expected not enough snow or terrain open at the beginning of the season and I would 100% agree. But what really disappointed me this trip was the lack of control from Copper Patrol. I mean even the head of mountain operations got plowed by a snowboarder and had a dislocated shoulder on Friday.

How about a game of Wiffle ball?

Can you try getting a hit off this guy? You'd be lucky if you can touch the ball unless you put your entire body infront of the strike zone.

Colorado Rockies World Series – Open Letter to the Rockies

As the proud owner of 3 tickets for game 3, I think the Rockies Organization left the fan down with this fiasco.

I believe the Rockies should had split their 60K tickets into Online and local store sales. Going even further than that, I think the Rockies should had started selling the World Series tickets after they won the tie breaker, or at least after they won the Division title. Heck, they could had started selling them before they even went to the tie breaker. We bought our Division title tickets before we even bought the tie breaker tickets. The might say, that they didn’t want to go through the overhead of refunding all those tickets in case they didn’t go to the World Series. My response to that is two folds. First, if the fans were hopeful enough to buy the tickets, they should had been hopeful enough to sell them. Second, they always say, it will take 4-6 weeks to refund the tickets. They might have made some good money on interest in that time frame if their money is managed properly.

Well they didn’t decide to do that. They decided to go online only. Since they were going to do online only, then they should had made sure that worked. It was stupid to think the servers would not be hit hard. And if this thing about a D-O-S attack is true, it was also stupid not to consider that as a possibility.

Instead of continuing to say after the glitch on Monday things went well on Tuesday and we think this was the best way, they should come out and apologize. They should come out and say, “WE’re sorry for the way WE handle this. This was our first time doing this and WE didn’t seek the right advice. WE should have gone to the Broncos and ask them what to do.” Or say something along those lines. You notice that I’m highlighting the word WE here. I think the Rockies must take 100% responsibility for everything that went wrong in the last 2 days. I think they should have a lottery for free tickets for one of their classic games next season. I think the Rockies should do everything to restore their fan base feelings of “GO ROCKIES”. They went from being the darlings of the MLB to being the joke of the MLB.

We, my wife, my son and I, are still Rockies fans and we wish them well in this World Series. We will continue to go to games; and we’re proud of what they accomplish this year. And I hope that they are big enough to take 100% responsibility and “do good by their fans”.

Rockies Game 3. Here we came

We were able to get in and reserve 4 tickets. When we went to pay we timed out.

About 15 minutes later we got in again. We tried for 4 tickets and nothing. Then we tried for 3 and while we were waiting for the system to look for them the news came on the TV that game 3 and 4 were sold out. But guess what there it was, our 3 tickets. Then we had to wait for the check out process. Our 3 other computers went to the Sold Out message. After much waiting we see the Thank You for Your Purchase page.

We’re going to game 3. We’re sitting WAY WAY WAY WAY up there. But we’re going.

I really wanted to get that 4th ticket to donate. But I thank God that we got what we got.

Rockies World Series Tickets - Website Attacked

The latest news is that their site was attacked…

From 9News.com

“The Colorado Rockies say they will once again sell World Series tickets through their Web site starting on Tuesday at noon. They say the system was brought down on Monday by an "external malicious attack."”

It makes me wonder if this is just PR. Having the website attacked makes the Rockies the victims. I hope I’m wrong on this, but, it does make me wonder.

Yes, I will be trying again tomorrow. But I stand by my previous statement. Doing this purely online it opens the sales of tickets to scalpers. I want 3 tickets, not more not less. I just need tickets for my wife, my kid and I. And if I’m lucky enough to get 4 tickets; I will donate the extra ticket to someone who has no other means to get it.

Red Sox World Series Tix

How is it that the Red Sox World Series Tickets went smoothly? Oh, I’m sure the Rockies are going to say, the Red Sox have done this before, so that’s why we looked to the MLB for advice. Anyone with ½ brain knows this was going to be a fiasco. How about those people who don’t have a fast connection and went to libraries to try to get tickets online? Baseball the American pastime…

How sad it is that an organization who spent over $60 million just to get started couldn’t had figured this out ahead of time.
